I build software on nights and weekends, mostly to fix things I run into as a parent, Little League board member, teacher, and engineer. Most of these were built with AI coding tools, and most are open source. During the day I’m Senior Director of Forward Deployed Engineering at WordPress VIP and a WordPress core committer.
WordPress core and security
- WordPress 7.1.3 (October 2026): led this release, which shipped 7 security fixes and 4 bug fixes. The security fixes were backported to every branch still eligible, back to 4.7.
- Secrets API (WordPress 7.2): committed a core API that stores credentials like AI provider keys encrypted, with the encryption key kept out of the database. The work was Eric Mann’s, on the WordPress VIP FDE team.
- WordPress 5.5 “Eckstine” (2020): release coordinator, alongside Matt Mullenweg and David Baumwald.
- Core committer and longtime member of the WordPress security team.
Youth sports
- ScoutSheet (web; iOS and Android apps coming soon): runs player tryouts and skills evaluations for volunteer baseball and softball leagues. Evaluators score on phones with no signal, and league Admins can connect Claude to ask read-only questions about how tryouts are going, with every read recorded in the league’s audit log.
- Draft Night (web, open source): runs a Little League player draft, including snake order and keeper rules. Built for Walnut Creek Little League and now used by leagues across the country. More
- WalkUp DJ (iOS): walk-up music for baseball and softball teams, with Apple Music and Spotify, announcer intros, and lineup controls on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. More
- Lineup spreadsheet (Google Sheets): plans defensive positions, tracks pitching innings, and prints dugout lineup cards.
Apple apps
- Today (iOS, Mac): an RSS reader and podcast player with daily digests from Apple Intelligence, running on the device. More
- Celluloid (macOS, open source): a virtual camera with color and image filters for Zoom, Meet and other video calls. More
- ScriptStrip (macOS): drag in audio or video and get a timestamped, searchable transcript, processed locally with Apple’s speech recognition. More
- Jewel Case (macOS): shows the album art of what’s playing on Spotify on your desktop. More
Developer and teaching tools
- ANF Validator (VS Code, Open VSX, open source): checks Apple News Format article.json files while you edit them. More
- Traveler (open source): replays a student’s web project commit by commit, built for grading my courses at USC’s Iovine and Young Academy. More
- Tab Cleaner (Chrome, open source): automatically closes inactive tabs. More
Just for fun
