CBA (Northgate) 18U Fall Victim To DVC Vikings Rally

Despite leading by as many as five runs, CBA (Northgate) 18U fell to DVC Vikings 7-6 on Thursday at Diablo Valley College – Pleasant Hill Campus.
CBA (Northgate) 18U was right in it until DVC Vikings singled in the seventh inning.
CBA (Northgate) 18U were the first to get on the board in the first when Wyatt Curran doubled, scoring three runs.
CBA (Northgate) 18U added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Robert Jurado doubled, Cole Torrey (2027) doubled, and Mason Mierzwa singled, each scoring one run.
DVC Vikings flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the seventh, scoring six runs on five hits to take the lead, 7-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Dean Meddaugh Jr. that drove in three.
Brandon King started the game for CBA (Northgate) 18U. The starter allowed two hits and one run over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking none.
CBA (Northgate) 18U amassed nine hits in the game. Torrey (2027) and Jurado were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for CBA (Northgate) 18U. Curran led CBA (Northgate) 18U with three runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. CBA (Northgate) 18U turned two double plays in the game.
DVC Vikings piled up 11 hits in the game. Meddaugh Jr. provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led DVC Vikings with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Ryan Paynton and Sejun Park each collected two hits for DVC Vikings. DVC Vikings had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Anthony Ricevuto and Skylar Juarez led the team with two bases on balls each. DVC Vikings turned one double play in the game.
CBA (Northgate) 18U play at home on Saturday against Antioch in their next game.
